Set on a working farm in the Elgin Valley, this quirky lodging is 17.4 km from Grabouw. Old Mac Daddy was a challenging location on which to build a sophisticated caravan resort. The site at Elgin was a pristine virgin site with a medium to steep gradient. The brief was to design and construct a resort using Airstream caravans as the accommodation component. Careful consideration was given in the design to the placement of the lodgings so as to reduce the impact on the environment. The caravans were located at strategic points in the area that allowed for the construction of raised walk ways under which all the electrical and water requirements were attached.
